My Story

Hey beautiful soul,

I’m Petrina — a village girl from northern Namibia who dared to dream big while staying true to her values. This is my real story: the highs, the hard choices, the quiet resilience, and the love that carried me through. Whether you’re a young girl protecting your future, a student facing pressure, a working mom feeling stretched thin, or a woman who still dreams beyond her current reality — I hope my journey encourages you to keep going.

A Village Girl Who Chose Her Dreams First

My Story
At 13 years old, this village girl made a promise: “Until I finish secondary school, no boy will disturb my dreams.” She chose her books and her future.

I grew up with two loving parents who taught me the value of hard work and going after the best life had to offer. At just 13, while many girls my age were starting relationships, I made a firm decision: I would focus on my education and protect my dreams. That choice shaped the rest of my life.

To every young girl who feels “different” or “boring” because you’re focusing on your studies:
You are not boring. You are wise. You are brave for protecting your heart and your future. Stay on your path. The right love will come at the right time.

High School Years: Faith as My Anchor

My Story
Standing in my high school uniform, Bible and hymn book in my hands, singing with the Student Christian Movement (SCM) every Sunday in the school hall.

I was a boarding student in the hostel where no parents were around to provide extra support. Many girls would go out to the shops and come back with plastics full of snacks and drinks. I couldn’t even afford a basic soda — I relied completely on the school hostel kitchen for every meal. While others seemed to enjoy more freedom and material things, I stayed focused. I refused to let comparison or lack shake me. Instead, I held tighter to my faith, my books, and my dreams.

To every young Christian girl in boarding school right now who feels left out, tempted, or “different” because you can’t afford what others have:

You are not less than them. You are not missing out. You are building something stronger.

Staying rooted in God, keeping your hands full with purpose, and refusing to be shaken by what you see around you is powerful. That discipline and faith will carry you further than any temporary pleasure ever could. I’m living proof of that.

That girl holding her Bible tightly grew up to become a teacher, a wife, a mother of three, and a woman still chasing her dreams with the same quiet strength.

Keep singing. Keep praying. Keep protecting your light. Your future self will thank you.

University Days: Simple Living and Strong Choices

My Story
My simple rented room during varsity — sleeping on a mattress, walls covered with love cards from my first love. I was deeply in love, but I never compromised my studies.

At university, life was humble. I slept on a mattress with no bed. My big brother and sister offered to buy me one, but I told them I was fine — they had already sacrificed so much. My room walls were covered with love cards and photos of my first love (who is now my husband). I was madly in love, but I stayed focused on my studies.

To the university girl tempted to date for survival or money:
You don’t have to compromise your dignity. I chose purpose over shortcuts and poured my energy into community work instead. Your future is worth protecting.

Campus Life: Waiting, Working, and Staying True

Many evenings I sat on the grass waiting for classes, then took a taxi home late at night. While some girls went out of their way to find guys with cars for lifts, I chose to stay independent and focused. I was determined to build my own future.

A Reward That Opened My Heart to Travel

My Story
Visiting Robben Island (2004) as a reward for my community work with PAYEE Namibia — the same day I climbed Table Mountain. These experiences taught me that resilience and hard work bring incredible rewards.

During my varsity years, as a reward for my community work with PAYEE Namibia, I visited Robben Island. That same day, I climbed Table Mountain. Those experiences opened my heart to travel and showed me that resilience and hard work can lead to beautiful, unforgettable rewards.

Teaching with Excellence While Chasing Bigger Dreams

I love teaching. Over the years, my learners have performed very well in Entrepreneurship. In 2022, my Grade 11 class achieved position 35 countrywide. In the 2025 Grade 12 results, 77% of my students scored between A and C symbols, with almost 50% getting B symbols at AS level (which carries more marks). Only four students had D symbols and one had an E.

Chasing dreams beyond the classroom has never meant neglecting my responsibilities as a teacher. I continue to pour my heart into my learners and deliver strong results while still using my holidays and extra time to build Health Goalz, travel, and grow my digital dreams. Excellence in my current role and pursuit of bigger dreams can — and do — exist together.

Dreaming Beyond the Classroom

Even while teaching, I began dreaming bigger. I wanted freedom of time, the ability to travel, and the chance to teach digitally. I started using my holidays to chase events and opportunities instead of extra teaching income.

Travelling the World While Building Dreams

I’ve travelled to Sweden, Germany (many times), Qatar, South Korea, Zimbabwe, and many parts of South Africa. I navigated cities on my own, translated with my phone to save money, and attended events that expanded my horizons. These experiences fuel my dream of becoming a digital teacher with freedom to travel and spend more time with my family.

Turning My Real Experiences Into a Niche Blog: You Can Do This Too

My Story
7 months pregnant and about to board the boat to Robben Island in Cape Town — the exact moment that sparked the idea for TravelHealthyBlog.com.

In December 2016, when I was 7 months pregnant, I travelled to Cape Town. I had already been travelling for 13 years, but never while pregnant. I was completely unprepared — I didn’t have the right clothes, no comfortable shoes, and I hadn’t planned for the physical changes that come with pregnancy. Cape Town was full of events I didn’t want to miss, so I pushed through anyway.

That trip taught me a powerful lesson: travelling while pregnant (or with young children) comes with its own unique challenges. Instead of keeping the experience to myself, I started writing everything down in a private journal — what worked, what didn’t, what I wished I had known, and practical tips for other mothers.

A few years later, I turned that journal into TravelHealthyBlog.com. Today, the site exists to help mothers who want to travel while pregnant or with kids — sharing honest stories, real preparation tips, and encouragement so they don’t feel as unprepared as I did.

To every woman reading this who has a story, an experience, or a lesson she wishes she could share:

The creator market is wide open for you. You don’t need to be a professional writer. You don’t need fancy equipment. You only need your real, lived experience.

Whether it’s travelling while pregnant, balancing teaching and motherhood, overcoming financial struggles at university, protecting your dreams in high school, or learning to thrive in a job you don’t love — your story matters. Someone out there is walking the same path right now and needs to hear what you’ve learned.

Niche blogs and websites are simply people turning their real lives into helpful content. That’s exactly how TravelHealthyBlog.com was born — from one unprepared, pregnant traveller who decided to write it all down so others wouldn’t have to struggle the same way.

You too can start something meaningful. Your experiences are valuable. Your voice is needed.

If I could turn a difficult pregnancy trip into a blog that now helps other mothers, imagine what you can create from your own journey.

Start small. Start honest. Start today.

You never know who you might encourage — or what beautiful doors your story might open.

A Message to You

You are not too late.
You are not behind.
Your dreams are still valid.

Whether you’re protecting your future at 13, choosing purpose at university, balancing motherhood while feeling stuck in a job, or dreaming of more freedom — keep going.

I’m still in the arena too — still teaching in the physical classroom while building my digital life and this blog. But I keep moving forward with hope, gratitude, and quiet determination.

Your story is powerful. Your choices matter. Keep choosing yourself and your dreams with love and courage.

With love and belief in you,
Petrina
