  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup rum or bourbon (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg (plus more for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs: In a large bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk until they become thick and pale. Gradually add the sugar, whisking until dissolved.
  2. Combine the liquids: Stir in the milk, heavy cream, rum (if using), vanilla extract, and nutmeg. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld and the eggnog to chill.
  4. Serve: Pour into glasses and sprinkle with additional nutmeg for garnish. For an extra touch, add a cinnamon stick to each glass.
